Section 22
Reconcilable Reconcilable
(1) If the perpetrator or the victim submits an application to the commission for reconciliation, the commission may bring reconciliation between the perpetrator and the victim.
(2) According to sub-section (1), the Commission shall make the victim repent of his wrongdoing and ask for forgiveness from the victim in relation to reconciliation between the perpetrator and the victim.
(3) Upon conciliation in accordance with sub-section (1), the commission may require the victim to provide emotional compensation for the damage caused to the victim.
(4) In order to encourage the perpetrators and the victims to reconcile, the Commission may do or cause the following to be done:-
(a) To organize a reconciliation ceremony involving the perpetrators, victims and their families in places affected by armed conflicts,
(b) To build a statue or a public place or erect a pillar in memory of the person who died during the armed conflict with the involvement of the perpetrator, the victim and their family,
(c) To publish various articles, compositions, essays, songs, pictures etc. related to reconciliation,
(d) To increase social and community harmony,
(e) to perform other appropriate functions.
(5) In the event that the victim has died or the victim is a minor or mentally unwell, the commission may facilitate reconciliation between the victim's family and the victim in accordance with this section.
(6) Notwithstanding anything written elsewhere in this section, the commission cannot reconcile the victim with the victim who has not been recommended for clemency as per sub-section (2) of section 26.
